EVENING PRAYER for the day - 14/06/2007 - by William Barclay

O God,

bless the people who are thinking of me and praying for me tonight,

my parents, my family, my friends, my loved ones.

Bless those who have no one to remember them,

and no one to pray for them, the aged,

the lonely, the friendless,

those who have no one to love and no one to love them.

Bless those who specially need my remembrance and my prayers,

those in illness and in pain, those whose life is in the balance,

those who are dying, those who are in the bewilderment,

those who are in regret and remorse,

those who have been driven to despair.

Bless me before I sleep, and grant me now

A grateful heart for all Your gifts;

A contrite heart for all my sins;

A heart at peace, because it rests in You,

Hear this my prayer for Your love’s sake.

Amen.

MORNING PRAYER for the day - 14/06/2007 - by William Barclay

Our Father in heaven,

who desires us to love and to serve one another,

and who has created us for fellowship with You and with our fellow-men,

grant unto us all through this day the gifts and the graces

which will make us easy to live with.

Grant us courtesy,

that we may live every moment as if we were living at the court of the king

Grant us tolerance,

that we may not be so quick to condemn what we do not like

and what we do not understand.

Grant unto us considerateness,

that we may think of the feelings of others even more than of our own.

Grant unto us kindliness,

that we may miss no opportunity to help, to cheer,

to comfort ad to encourage a brother man.

Grant unto us honesty, t

hat our work ma be our best,

whether there is anyone to see it or not.

Grant unto us so to live this day

that the world may be a happier place because we passed through it

through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Amen.

COMMON EVERYDAY PRAYERS

The Lord"s Prayer

Our Father, who art in heaven, Hallowed be thy Name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, On earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, As we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, But deliver us from evil.

For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever and ever.

Benedictions

Numbers 6:24-26

(NKJV)

The LORD bless you and keep you; The LORD make His face shine upon you, And be gracious to you; The LORD lift up His countenance upon you, And give you peace.

(NIV)

The LORD bless you and keep you; the LORD make his face shine upon you and be gracious to you; the LORD turn his face toward you and give you peace."

(NLT)

May the LORD bless you and protect you.

Apostles" Creed

I believe in God the Father, Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth:And in Jesus Christ, his only begotten Son, our Lord: Who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary: Suffered under Pontius Pilate; was crucified, dead and buried: He descended into hell: The third day he rose again from the dead:He ascended into heaven, and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty: From thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead: I believe in the Holy Ghost: I believe in the holy catholic church: the communion of saints: The forgiveness of sins: The resurrection of the body: And the life everlasting. Amen.

The Nicene Creed

We believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all that is, seen and unseen.

We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, of one Being with the Father. Through him all things were made. For us and for our salvation he came down from heaven: by the power of the Holy Spirit he became incarnate from the Virgin Mary, and was made man. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate; he suffered death and was buried. On the third day he rose again in accordance with the Scriptures; he ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his kingdom will have no end.

We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son. With the Father and the Son he is worshiped and glorified. He has spoken through the Prophets. We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church. We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins. We look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. Amen.

Hail Mary

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou amongst women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.
